Parents, families and guardians of SMS students-
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful start to Spring! We are officially done with CMAS testing and have started makeup testing. Thanks to the patience and efforts of your children and commitment and professionalism of our staff, things have been running really smoothly. We have made our greatest efforts to balance testing with lots of time outside, exercise and creativity. Thank you for your support and thanks to our PTO and parents for providing food and treats for our staff last week! Next week we finish up MAPs testing and then we have a lot of fun and celebratory end of year activities throughout May.
I have started my maternity leave and motherhood journey. Salida Middle School and district staff, students and parents/families have been so amazing and supportive to me throughout my pregnancy and I cannot imagine a better community to welcome baby girl! :) I will be out on leave for the remainder of the 22-23 school year and very much look forward to welcoming our students and staff back in August of 2023.
I am grateful to have very capable and committed staff both at our school level and district level to fill in for me in my absence (I have listed contact information below). Our Dean of Students, Stephen Crane, will be the go-to person in my absence with support from our office staff- Erin Johnke, Counselor and Wendy Zechman, Behavior Specialist. Will Woodell, our Assistant Superintendent and Dr. Blackburn, Superintendent, will also be providing district support and assistance and are available to parents as well.
I appreciate you all and have had a really great first school year at SMS. Have a wonderful remainder of the school year.
